This Selene 43 has sold – please contact us if you are interested in a sistership.
Painkiller is an ideal trawler for any couple to enjoy the cruising lifestyle. The 39th hull in the series, this 43 benefits from extensive updating as she has continually refined her cruising pedigree. She is comfortable to live aboard – for weekend getaways, for months on end.
The Selene 43 is a modest sized trawler with exceptional features. Easy for two to maintain, she has the classic two stateroom, two head layout. The raised pilothouse makes for better visibility underway and a separation of space from the other living areas. The engine room has easy access. The outside deck space has a swim platform and cockpit with double side decks. The Portuguese bridge connects to the foredeck and the boat deck connects to the flying bridge.
Painkiller is ready to go, are you?
DESCRIPTION:
Cockpit: The cockpit is a utility area that can be used for fishing, or relaxing under the shade of the boat deck. There are three cockpit boarding doors – port, starboard and aft. Under the cockpit decking is the lazarette which is a large storage area that houses the steering components and other systems. The swim platform has staple rails, hot cold freshwater shower, hand rails and swim ladder.
Saloon: Entering through the Dutch door you are welcomed by a warm teak interior with viewing windows outboard and the galley forward. The saloon layout feature an L-shaped settee and dining table to port. The entertainment center to starboard contains a stereo equipment and a television. Aft under the sole is the lifting hatch to access the commissary storage underneath.
Galley: The forward section of the entry level houses the galley. It is practical and efficient with necessary appliances including a Whirlpool refrigerator/freezer, a Force 10 three-burner propane stove and oven with broiler and a GE Profile microwave oven with exhaust fan. There is a good amount of counter space for preparing and serving meals. Forward to port is the accommodations deck stairway, forward to starboard leads up a few steps to the raised pilothouse.
Pilothouse: The Pilothouse is the primary station for operating Painkiller. The navigation and communication electronics have been recently upgraded. The layout is designed to make traveling convenient with a lot of thought put into the placement of the screens and controls. Very open, great visibility, easy to get around and also interior access to fly bridge. Italicized (primarily) Garmin electronics installed in 2021.
Lower landing
Down a few steps you arrive at the base of the accommodations level. The Splendide clothes washer/dryer is outboard. There are storage lockers outboard in the stairway.
Guest Stateroom: The stateroom accommodations are on the lower level. Descending the steps from the entry level you reach a landing. The guest stateroom with double bunk beds is to port, the head across the hall and the owner stateroom suite is forward. The guest cabin has a clever door arrangement to close off the room for privacy at night and to open up the area during daytime.
Guest/Day Head: The hallway head is convenient to the upper level and the guest stateroom. It is a day head with a separate shower, sink and cabinetry.
Owner Stateroom: The owner stateroom has a queen island berth. The cabinetry includes built-in hanging lockers and drawers. Two large overhead hatches and opening portlights provide light and ventilation.
Owner Ensuite Head: The Owner head includes a separate shower enclosure with a full tub and a toilet! Like the day head, this this owner head is beautifully finished with granite countertops.
Engine Room: The engine room has a hinged door with window for access. The layout allows for good servicing access to the machinery.
Boat Deck: The boat deck is above the saloon and is the best place to store your tender while you are underway. There are weather cloths hung from the stainless-steel railing. The mast and boom are rigged to handle dinghy launch and retrieval.
Flybridge: The Flybridge is a great place to operate the 43 underway and a top level retreat when you are at rest. The folding Bimini top shades the sun and keeps this area dry when it rains.

BROKER COMMENTS:
Painkiller truly is a comfortable platform for offshore adventures. Whether you want to cross an ocean or explore a long stretch of coastline, she can get you there. The Selene product line has earned a popular following for their craftsmanship, build details, systems installation, and equipment selections. She is a lot of boat for 43’ and incredibly versatile with long legs, shallow draft and a lot of features more commonly found on larger trawlers. The current owners search a long time before purchasing Painkiller and they have enjoyed running her and improving her. The recent arrival of their first grandchild has caused a shift in plans and they look forward to turning over Painkiller for the next owners to continue the adventures.
